What we do

Software written for your business, then looked after.

J-Mach is a small software company. We take on a handful of customers and build them the systems their business runs on, then host and maintain those systems for as long as they are in use.

Bespoke back-office systems

The system your staff use all day: the one that holds the quotes, the orders, the stock, the certificates, the bookings. Off-the-shelf packages make you work their way. We build the system around the way you already work, then improve it in small steps.

  • Quotations, RFQs and supplier costing for distributors
  • Sales and purchase orders, stock and despatch
  • Course diaries, bookings, delegates, registers and certificates for trainers
  • Equipment records, inspections, hire and service for safety companies
  • Customer portals, trainer logins, reception screens and KPI dashboards
  • QA and compliance: controlled documents, training records, audit schedules

Websites that do a job

A public website should be the front door to your system, not a brochure with a contact form that goes to an inbox. We build sites where a bill of materials becomes a quotation request, a course booking becomes a booking, and a customer can log in and see their own records.

  • BOM upload and quotation request forms that post straight into the back office
  • Online course booking against live course dates and seat counts
  • Certificate verification by QR code
  • Customer portals for records, certificates and training matrices
  • Product catalogues, stock listings and e-commerce with card payment
  • Fast, static-first sites hosted on Vercel with your own domain

Hosting and maintenance

We run what we build. Your system lives on Render and Vercel with a managed PostgreSQL database, and J-Mach looks after it month by month. You do not need a server, an IT contractor or anyone who knows how to restart it.

  • Hosting on Render (API and database) and Vercel (websites and apps)
  • Daily backups and point-in-time recovery on the database
  • Security updates, dependency updates and monitoring
  • Small changes and new reports as part of the monthly service
  • Files stored in your own Microsoft 365 (OneDrive and SharePoint) so they stay with you
  • Integrations kept working as the third parties change: Xero, couriers, Mailchimp, Outlook

Migration off legacy ERP

Most businesses we meet are running on something they cannot leave: an installed ERP with a per-seat licence, a desktop database from the 1990s, or a set of spreadsheets that only one person understands. We get the records out, load them properly, and keep the old system readable until you are sure.

  • Exports from OrderWise, Lotus Approach and similar systems
  • Customers, suppliers, products, orders, despatches, ledgers and documents
  • Data repaired on the way through: payment terms, addresses, tax status, links between orders
  • Reconciled against the old system before cut-over
  • Reports the old system produced, rebuilt on the new data
  • Xero set up alongside, with opening balances and open items carried across

IT help on site

A system is only as good as the desks it runs on. For customers who want it, J-Mach also looks after the practical side of the office: computers, printers, network points and cabling, set up properly and kept working. It is the same person, so nothing falls between a software supplier and an IT contractor.

  • New computers set up, configured and connected to Microsoft 365
  • Printers, label printers and thermal despatch printers installed and shared
  • Network cabling, switches and Wi-Fi for offices, warehouses and training rooms
  • Reception screens and training-room displays connected to the system
  • Email, domains and DNS sorted out and documented
  • Straightforward advice on what to buy and what not to
How we work

Small releases, real users, no big bang

We do not disappear for six months and come back with a system. The first usable piece is usually in your hands within weeks, and from then on the system grows in the order that matters to you. Your staff use it while it is being built, which is how we find out what it actually needs to do.

Each job is quoted on its own terms. Tell us what you run on today and we will say whether we are the right fit.

Tell us what your business runs on today

A short conversation is enough to say whether J-Mach is the right fit and what a first step would look like. Quotations are prepared separately for each job.
